Schield Family Brands (SFB) says it will be closing its Park Falls, Wis., facility and moving door production lines to facilities in both Medford and Mosinee. Company officials say the move is “in an effort to establish more streamlined and cost effective production.” The move is anticipated to occur over the next several months.

The Park Falls facility has been producing predominantly patio and entry doors for the past nine years. Park Falls employees, the City of Park Falls, Teamsters Union 662 and state officials were give written notice (W.A.R.N. – Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification) of the plant closing on August 25, according to the company.

A company spokesperson told DWM magazine today that Park Falls’ 152 employees can apply for positions at SFB’s other plants in Medford, Mosinee and Ladysmith.
