The Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) says it will address vital issues at the 2010 BHMA Summer Meeting including developments concerning the new International Green Construction Code (IGCC) initiatives and the results from the ICC Final Action Hearings.

The BHMA Summer Meeting is being held at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago, June 21-23 in Chicago. This year, aside from revising standards for mortise, and interconnected locks, and gasketing, the committees will discuss sustainability and how it relates to BHMA members and their markets.

The IGCC initiative, “Safe and Sustainable: By the Book,” was launched in 2009 by the International Code Council. This initiative is working to develop codes that focus on green building design and performance for new and existing commercial buildings. This will be one topic of interest at the BHMA Summer Meeting, and will influence future codes and standards.

“With advancements in technology and a conscious effort to embrace sustainability, the builders hardware industry continues to evolve,” said BHMA executive director, Ralph J. Vasami. “There will be a lot of information to cover, including the regular areas of standards development and codes advocacy.”
