ProBuild Company announced on April 27 that it has reached an agreement to purchase the assets of Oso Lumber Inc., a building materials supplier based in Arlington, Wash. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The transaction was expected to close on April 30, 2010.

ProBuild says the Puget Sound market is one of the largest housing markets in the United States and is a key strategic service area for its future. Company officials say the acquisition of Oso would give ProBuild “the footprint necessary to efficiently service the entire market,” says a press release from ProBuild.

Oso has six locations in Western Washington and offers a full range of services including window and millwork distribution.

“The addition of Oso will provide tremendous benefit and value to builders serving the Western Washington market,” says ProBuild CEO Paul Hylbert.

“Oso Lumber has a substantial market presence in the Puget Sound, and the purchase of Oso significantly strengthens ProBuild’s position here,” adds Oso president Adam Lingenfelter.
