The Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) will hold its Winter Meeting in Tampa, Fla., on January 12 and 13 to discuss what is in store for the building hardware industry. The association says its leaders will map priorities for the association in 2010 during the meeting and finalize its action plan for 2010.

“Company leaders come to the Winter Meeting to develop the strategic initiatives BHMA will take over the next several years,” says Ralph Vasami, BHMA’s executive director. “By the end of the session, the group will finalize strategic goals and pinpoint the tactics BHMA will employ to achieve them over the coming 12 months.”

The BHMA says that due to the challenges facing the construction industry, the Codes and Government Affairs and Technical Standards Committees will meet for all-day working sessions scheduled on Tuesday, January 12, and Wednesday, January 13.

The Codes and Government Affairs Committee’s session will include a brief update from the November 2009 International Codes Council’s code development hearings. A schedule of technical committee meetings follows with next steps in the revisions of the ANSI/BHMA standards covering bored locks, interconnected locks, mortise locks, multi-point locks, architectural trim, gasketing, lites and louvers, and egress marking. A new product standard for anti-ligature hardware also is scheduled to be addressed during the technical sessions.
