Hurd Windows & Doors was nominated for the 22nd Annual Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year Award, which honors manufacturers who bring excellence to Wisconsin manufacturing. The company was nominated in the large size company category of 300-750 employees.

The Manufacturer of the Year Awards recognize Wisconsin companies that demonstrate a commitment to business excellence which has a positive impact on the company and the state. Nominated companies are evaluated in areas such as financial growth or consistency, technological advances, product development, environmental solutions, operational excellence/continuous improvement, commitment to employees, and effective research and development.

Hurd’s business strategy during the past year was cited as one of the key reasons the company was nominated, according to the company. In 2009, when the construction market spiraled downward, Hurd undertook a multi-million dollar renovation and consolidation project to build for its future and improve efficiencies.

One year ago, in November 2008, Longroad Asset Management LLC, a private equity firm purchased Hurd Windows & Doors and formed a new company, HWD Acquisition Inc., which retained Hurd’s assets, including the Hurd brand, as well as the employees and management team of the company.
