The pool of software suppliers is now slightly smaller as Friedman Corp. has acquired two software companies recently, PMC Software in Flemington, N.J., and Windflite, provider of the WinSys system, based in Peoria, Ill.The company announced the acquisition of PMC on September 28.

“PMC brings a broad set of specialized products that are integral to glass and fenestration production,” says Friedman CFO Eric Hermann. “The products are highly complementary to Friedman’s ERP offerings.

“Glass and window fabrication is a very specialized trade that requires not only specialized tools, processes and software, it also requites a strong focused solution provider that can address requirements in an integrated manner along the whole value chain,” says PMC president and founder Paul Christian. “We see our acquisition by Friedman as being a major step in that direction-one that will bring more value to glass and window manufacturers.”

The company announced its acquisition of Windflite on July 30. The Winsys product line will be managed and supported by existing Windflite personnel out of Peoria. Windflite founder Andy Hodge now heads up the Winsys product line at Friedman.

“It [Winsys acquisition] will further strengthen our leading position in this vertical [market] by providing platform alternatives and solutions that can be better suited for smaller to mid sized manufacturers, this expanding our market reach,” adds Hermann.
