VEKA Holdings Inc. has announced that due to the continuing slow economy, it is ceasing production at its facility in Edmonton, Alberta. The tooling and output from Edmonton will be moved to its plants in Reno, Nev., and Fombell, Pa. Warehousing operations will remain in Edmonton and be supplied from the Nevada and Pennsylvania plants. Company officials say material shipments will not be interrupted during the period of transition.

“VEKA Canada has been a solid performer over the years but given the current weak demand, it is the responsible thing to do,” says Walter Stucky, pesident of VEKA. “We will continue to closely monitor the economic situation and as conditions improve, we hope to again be producing out of the Edmonton facility.”
