Wood Door Standard Open for Second Public BallotFebruary 22nd, 2013 by DWM Magazine
WDMA I.S.6A-11, Industry Standard for Interior Architectural Wood Stile and Rail Doors and WDMA I.S.1A-11, Industry Standard for Interior Architectural Wood Flush Doors, are now open for their second ballot for recognition as American National Standards.
WDMA I.S.6A-11 defines the aesthetic grades and performance duty levels for interior architectural wood stile and rail doors. WDMA I.S.1A-11 defines the aesthetic grades and performance duty levels for interior architectural wood flush doors. They provide standard requirements and tests to ensure all products complying with the standard are evaluated on an equal basis, and provide a logical system of references, keyed to a guide specification, to facilitate thorough, precise, and accurate architectural specifications.
The two Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) standards were developed by the members of the WDMA National Architectural Door Council and are an update and replacement for the former standards WDMA I.S.6A-08 and WDMA I.S.1A-04, respectively. The revised standards coordinate their content with each other and are also in-line with the 2009 Architectural Woodwork Standards. Comments from the first ballot were addressed by WDMA, and changes have been made to both standards to resolve them.
The ballot deadline for these standards is March 26, 2013.
