Window World Helps St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Celebrate 50-Year AnniversaryJune 18th, 2012 by DWM Magazine
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital marked its 50th anniversary recently with a multi-day celebration and Window World Inc. contributed to the festivities through two different events: the signing of its “The Stinger” by two-time Indianapolis 500 starter Robby Unser and by sponsoring the St. Jude Presents John Rich & Friends concert. Both events took place June 5 in Memphis, Tenn.
The Stinger is a 2011 concept Indy show car and a tribute to the first winning Indy 500 car, the 1911 Marmon Wasp. The vehicle currently showcases the signatures of 210 former Indy 500 starters. For each signature received, Window World makes a donation to Window World Cares, the charitable foundation for Window World, to help support causes such as St. Jude and the Veterans Airlift Command.
Window World was also the national presenting sponsor of the St. Jude Presents John Rich & Friends concert. The event featured a number of performers, including country music stars Big and Rich, Darius Rucker and Kellie Pickler. Comedian Jeff Foxworthy also appeared.
Window World’s participation with these events is a part of its One More Day initiative, the goal of which is to raise a full day of operating expenses for St. Jude. The campaign is headed by Window World Cares. Since its inception in 2008, Window World Cares has donated more than $2.5 million to the hospital, already donating one full day of operating costs, equivalent to $1.7 million, to St. Jude and continues to raise funds to go toward a second day. The ‘One More Day’ project aims to complete the second day of funding. The initiative was developed by Tammy Whitworth, chairman and CEO of Window World and co-founder of Window World Cares.
