WDMA Forms National Architectural Door Council

September 20th, 2011 by DWM Magazine

The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) is establishing a new council, the WDMA National Architectural Door Councilâ„¢ (NADC), to represent the interests of architectural door manufacturers and their suppliers. Operating under the WDMA umbrella, the NADC will be responsible for creating programs and services to serve this market segment and provide networking and education opportunities for its members.

“The architectural wood door industry is a unique subset of the overall window and door industry with distinct issues which WDMA recognizes can best be addressed by the formation of the council,” says Ann Duebner, WDMA vice chair and vice president of sales and marketing for Eggers Industries in Two Rivers, Wis. “I’m excited by the possibilities and look forward to Eggers participation in the council.”

The NADC will be responsible for developing and maintaining the primary industry standards for architectural wood doors and representing the industry before code and regulatory bodies, standards-setting organizations, policymakers and the media. The NADC will be promoting the use of the recently updated WDMA architectural door standards to architects, specifiers and contractors through information exchange, education and media awareness.

Its first order of business? The association says it will launch an online continuing education program on the updated architectural door standards for architects in the coming weeks.
