Kimmer will present The Outlook for Housing Finance Reform and Possible Impact on the Industry. Since the housing crash and the takeover of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac by the Federal Government, policymakers have struggled with developing a consensus on winding down these government sponsored enterprises (GSE) without impacting the housing recovery while maintaining a robust housing finance system. According to WDMA, with the new 114th Congress scheduled to convene in January 2015, GSE reform is likely to be near the top of the Congressional agenda. This session will explore the various approaches to reform currently under consideration, their possible impacts on the housing market and their likelihood of passage.
