VEKA Qualifies First Passive House System

November 12th, 2013 by DWM Magazine

VEKA Inc. has announced it has tested and qualified its first vinyl window system with PHIUS (Passive House Institute US). The Evolutions® double hung/slider system is the first vinyl system to meet specifications under PHIUS in the U.S. from a vinyl extruder, according to a company statement. The Evolutions window qualified with a whole-window U-value of 0.20/R-value 5 with 1.25 inch triple glazed, Argon gas filled.

“The Evolution’s platform was specifically designed with future criteria in mind. It is a very versatile system with scalable capabilities to take advantage of multiple, profitable niche markets like impact, sound control and Passive House. Passive House was taken into consideration from day one,” says Steve Dillon, marketing director for VEKA. “We see it as a viable market segment with initial moderate growth. We believe that it will change to a high growth potential market over the next few years.”
