Those taking part in the Firm Brooke Chase Associates Inc. State of the Building Materials Industry – Year End 2011 survey say it will likely be remodeling/replacement market that brings most of their work this year. Respondents of the 13-question survey, which was sent to more than 30,000 building industry professionals, included building industry product manufacturers, wholesalers, kitchen and bath dealers, private equity firms, rep agencies and residential home builders. Questions ranged from information about the size of their company, volume and industry trends. The survey reflects their second half results and projections for their business for the 2012 year.
According to survey results, 73 percent of our respondents indicated an increase in revenue during the second half of 2011 and 81 percent forecast an increase in revenue for the 2012 calendar year. The majority of respondents indicated they are relying on the remodeling/replacement market and the commercial market for the largest percentage of their business. Others reported they have succeeded in a down market by creating brand image programs and expanding niche markets.
While most see no change in overall staffing plans during the next 12 months, there were many indicating that there would be an increase in sales/marketing executive staffing during that same time period.
