Sika Corp.’s Industry Products Division announced the establishment of its Fenestration and Insulating Glass Business Unit (FFI) yesterday.
According to the company’s statement, the FFI will serve the needs of customers in the North American facades, fenestration and insulating glass marketplace. The new business unit has a dedicated sales force specific to the market segments and will operate from Lakewood, N.J. It is headed by Scott Henry, senior vice president – Sika Industry Products. Doug Walker serves as vice president, sales and marketing.
“The establishment of the FFI business unit provides solid ground for continued growth in this arena,” said Walker. “It also indicates strong commitment by Sika to establish North American supply and expertise to augment the Sika Engineered Silicones business in Europe.”
In related news, Sika announced on February 3 that it opened a new 200,000-square-foot warehousing facility at its Marion, Ohio, location. Benefits of the new facility include a consolidated shipping point and expedited material flow for the multiple Sika Business Units serviced through the Marion operation, according to the company. The new facility is located adjacent to the Marion plant and allows space for future growth.
Consolidation of the current warehousing operations to the new building will occur in closely timed stages by Sika Business Unit, and all actions including merger of existing finished goods inventories should be completed by the end of April 2011, the company says. The former warehousing space occupied in the plant will be converted to additional manufacturing capacity.
