REPORT: U.S. Residential Window Market to Grow by nearly 20 Percent by 2015August 14th, 2014 by Casey Flores
The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) released the Window and Entry Door 2014 U.S. Market Study, which shows continued growth for the residential window market through 2015.
The study, prepared, researched and analyzed by Metrostudy and the Virginia Center for Housing Research at Virginia Tech, forecasts an overall residential window market growth of 9.1 percent for 2014 and 8.3 percent for 2015. This follows a market growth of 10 percent in 2013.
“It’s an encouraging sign that the housing and construction industry has significantly and permanently turned the corner on the great recession and the pace of this improvement will help sustain … incremental growth in the years to come,” says Jeff Lowinski, vice president of technical services.
In 2013, vinyl windows made up nearly 69 percent of the residential market, followed by wood clad windows at 20 percent. Construction project types were 52 percent new, 30 percent replacements, and 18 percent remodeling.
