Quanex Building Products is working with Zane State College to provide continuing education opportunities free of charge to its employees. The program will provide 191 training hours and eight college credit hours to Quanex employees.
Nine of the company’s process, twin-screw and mixing technicians participated in the first offering of the Quanex Tech 2 certification. Students took courses in hydraulics and pneumatics, industrial electricity, leadership and team building, Lock Out-Tag Out hazard training, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10 and computer training. Many of the credits the students earned can be applied toward a two-year degree at Zane State.
Employees who participated in the first offering include, Joe Florio, Sirius Underwood, Justin Rentsch, Aaron Downerd, John Whited, DJ Stillion, Cody Walsh, Ricky Ryan and Seth Tipton.
The next class is slated to begin on March 25.
