Quanex Sends Off Hope 66 Charity Cyclists in Chicago with DonationSeptember 6th, 2013 | Category: Industry News
Fifteen cyclists from the glazing, construction and related industries known as the Hope 66 Charity riders began their 2,616-mile journey from Chicago to Santa Monica, Calif., on Aug. 30, to support UK-based Hope House Children’s Hospices, an organization that provides care to terminally ill children and their families. Quanex greeted the riders in Chicago, pledging its support with a $2,500 donation.
“It will be the trip of a lifetime for this group, covering rugged terrain and extreme temperatures over the next 14 days,” says Mike Hovan, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Quanex Building Products. “Their determination and dedication to such a worthy cause is remarkable and we wish them well on their journey.”
Hovan presented the check to the Hope 66 cyclists on Aug. 30. The team trained for more than a year to make the trip down the famous Route 66. The journey is expected to be completed on Sept. 13. Make a donation and track the team’s progress.
