Hellman & Friedman, a private equity firm, has made an initial public offering (IPO), or first sale of stock to the public, for Associated Materials, parent company to Alpine Windows and Gentek Building Products Inc., according to a report from Reuters.
Though neither company had made a formal statement at press time, the Hellman & Friedman website did list Associated Materials as a current investment, saying, “All investments in which Hellman & Friedman invested $100 million or more are listed in current or prior investments.”
The Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio-based company announced in September 2010, that it had signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by affiliates of Hellman & Friedman. According to a company press release from the initial sale, the transaction was valued at approximately $1.3 billion.
