The Northeast Window and Door Association (NWDA) announced it is introducing new virtual content via webinars. The first webinar, “Design Wind Loads for Windows and Doors using ASCE 7,” will take place Thursday, June 14 at 1 p.m. EST
ASCE 7 Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures is a reference standard for all building codes and the basis for establishing design wind loads for doors and windows installed in buildings. Joe Reed, director of engineering and product testing at Architectural Testing Inc., will explain the science and theory the standard uses and how it applies to doors and windows.
The webinar will cover:
• A systematic approach to using the standard;
• Solutions to practical example problems;
• An introduction to ASCE 7-10, a revised and reorganized version of the standard that will be utilized in future codes; and
• Options for using software to perform ASCE 7 calculations.
