MMPA Poly Blends Group Makes Further Progress Toward Code Compliance Report

March 25th, 2011 by DWM Magazine

The Moulding and Millwork Producers Association (MMPA) is meeting this week in Isle of Palms, S.C., and the Poly Blends Group met for several hours yesterday to further its discussion of pursuing a code compliance report.

At the start of the meeting, Chris Taylor from IQM Trim recapped the group’s past efforts.

“We decided to pursue a code compliance report so our products can be looked at by code inspectors to make sure we are code-compliant,” said Taylor.

He explained that phase two of the program would be to look at a marketable certification program for MMPA.

Craig Warner from Architectural Testing Inc. attended the meeting at the group’s request to further discuss creating a Code Compliance Research Report (CCRR). Warner outlined the various tests related to exterior and interior trim in the International Building Code and the International Residential Code so the group could determine what tests should go into the CCRR.

“A CCRR will give building officials confidence in your products,” said Warner.

Another benefit is that some cost savings may be achieved by having a MMPA program as that will include savings for the group.

The Poly Blends Group was set to meet again today. Stay tuned to dwmmag.com for further updates.
