Milgard’s Day of Caring Helps Children with Back-to-School NeedsAugust 10th, 2012 | Category: Industry News
Milgard Windows & Doors celebrated its 50th anniversary by hosting a company-wide Day of Caring. On Saturday, August 4, each Milgard location sponsored 25-50 children for their back-to-school needs. Volunteers from Milgard locations in Tacoma, Wash.; Sacramento, Hollister, Simi Valley and Temecula, California; and Denver teamed with the Salvation Army to escort underprivileged children through local department stores to pick out back-to-school clothes. Each child was also provided with a new backpack filled with school supplies.
“We had 42 volunteers and 47 children ages 5 to 19. My wife and I shopped with two brothers, Nate and Devon, who were a lot of fun,” says Rick Baczuk, director of design engineering at Milgard, who participated in the Tacoma, Wash., event. “It was great to know these kids will be ready for school with fun and appropriate clothing and a backpack full of supplies.”
This event was made possible through the company’s Matching Gift/Community Action Team (MG/CAT) program. Established in 1987, the MG/CAT was created so employees can actively give back to the communities in which they live and work.
