Jeld-Wen to Close Hartselle, Ala., PlantOctober 22nd, 2010 | Category: Industry News
Jeld-Wen will close its Hartselle, Ala., plant in two months, according to a statement provided to DWM magazine. The company cites the downturn in new construction and weak remodeling market for the closure, which will affect 51 employees. The company says it made the decision to close after “extensive evaluation and discussion.”
“We have discussed with our workforce the process for ramping down operations, spent time explaining the details of their severance benefits, and announced that we will offer a reemployment service that can help them through this difficult time,” said a company statement. “We have engaged the services of NextJob, a national reemployment company that will offer our employees personalized job coaching, job search training, and an opportunity to participate in an upcoming job fair, connecting them with nearby, prospective employers. NextJob’s services have been shown to help displaced workers find employment faster than they would on their own, all at no cost to our employees.”
Jeld-Wen adds that Hartselle’s customers will be serviced from another JELD-WEN location.
