Jeld-Wen Factory to Close

Employees at the JELD-WEN Window Division in Corsicana, Texas were notified on September 14 that their plant will close down operations by September 25.”The biggest factor in this closure is a reduced demand for windows in both the new construction and remodeling markets,” said JELD-WEN Senior Vice President Rick Hetherington. “With nationwide new home starts hovering at their lowest levels in 30 years, closing the Corsicana plant became a necessary, but very difficult, business decision.”

“We have a great team of dedicated, hard-working employees and this closure in no way reflects their reliable performance,” he added “There are potentially a few opportunities for in-company transfers for employees who would consider relocating to another part of the country.”

JELD-WEN has operated the plant since 1984 and employs between 90 and 115 full-time employees depending on the time of year and order levels.

In addition to severance and benefits packages offered to employees, JELD-WEN has enlisted the assistance of NextJob, a national, outplacement services company whose employment coaches are skilled in helping job seekers use the latest technologies and job search methods.
