JELD-WEN Exits Garage Door Business

October 17th, 2011 by DWM Magazine

JELD-WEN has confirmed to DWM magazine that it will exit the garage door business, but points out that garage doors account for about one-tenth of one percent of the company’s total sales.

“After a thorough analysis we decided to focus our attention on our primary door and window products, including a number of new products and product enhancements,” says Teri Cline, JELD-WEN director of communications.

She adds that although the company is phasing out one product offering, JELD-WEN has averaged 350 new products or enhancements annually over the last three years.

Cline also clarifies that exiting the garage door business does not require the closure of any plants: garage door manufacturing occupied a single production line within a larger plant that also makes other products.

  1. Good Day, I have spent many years in a challenging industry, Distribution, Building Products, Millwork, Commercial applications, OEM,s and Home Centers, along with the many responsibilities within the industry, from Senior Sales Management, Operational Knowledge and Support, bringing customers and people together in a True Partnership Program. One who is driven and self-starting; someone who can make the calls and can take on a leadership role and assist others as well. Always ensuring development of brand position and maximizing on opportunities within the marketplace. Enjoy working with and developing people and customers in a TEAM atmosphere. I am currently looking for a career opportunity and hoping there may be an opportunity with JELD WEN as an experienced individual and most important something I am very interested in pursuing.

Believing in Value Added is very important in today’s business environment and it seems to be overlooked by many major companies. Along with the belief in Team, Together Everyone Achieves More, and Partnerships, it just adds more value to whatever you are trying to accomplish. The key to any success is Value Added.

The ability to retain and grow an expressed objective within the organization. This will require considerable effort and commitment by someone who is not afraid to get out there and get it done. I have always said, it’s amazing how much can be accomplished by just showing up.

Clearly identified objectives that are well communicated will play as important a role as the product and services you offer. The field sales force has to be skilled in identifying new opportunities for business and product if the company is to evolve within the market and meet the challenges ahead. Creating a culture within the organization that is committed to customer and team solidarity through manufacturing and service excellence will be key to the long-term health of the company. It is important to find those avenues to bring growth and cost savings, while never cheapening the offering. With my many years within the industry and the many solid business relationships established, this can be accomplished.

Other opportunities available are adding sound advice to the company with decisions that can affect the company and the customers. What’s important is evaluating what’s in place today and recommending, not so much improvements, but enhancements, for everyone to succeed successfully. There have been many cases where we have seen someone make major changes within an organization and the house comes crumbling down. Many of us have been around this long we know that is not the way to succeed. In my business experience with major corporations, we have learned more of what not to do to further succeed, rather then what needs to be done.

Over the years I have maintained some very strong and great relationships with many customers within the industry. My customer list is vast and updated. Along with the customers are the many independent manufacture representatives I have worked with and maintained relationships with over the many years in this industry.

My resume is available for your consideration and my salary requirements are open. I would like the opportunity for us to meet and discuss some opportunities with your organization for a long lasting career.

Please give me a call on my cell to schedule a day that is convenient to everyone involved.

    Thanks,
    Richard McMahon
