Head Down Under for Glass and Window ConferenceAugust 16th, 2011 | Category: Industry News
The Australian Glass and Glazing Association (AGGA) and the Australian Window Association (AWA) are combining resources this year to host their first joint conference, AUSFENEX 2011, which will take place September 21-23 at Jupiter’s Casino on Australia’s Gold Coast. The program will offer both educational and practical sessions, including presentations from a number of U.S. glass-industry representatives.
Julia Schimmelpenningh, global architectural applications manager, advanced interlayers, Solutia Inc., will lead a session titled “Glass & Windows – A World of Possibilities.” In addition, she will also lead one of the breakout sessions that will take place during the event. The breakout sessions will provide attendees with an opportunity to focus on the subject areas they find most relevant. These include energy and sustainability, standards and regulations and operations.
Bill Lingnell, with Lingnell Consulting Services, is also scheduled to present. In his session he will discuss “Quality Control Programs & Systems.”
Though not from the United States, Jorma Vitkala, chairman of the Glass Performance Days organizing committee, is well known internationally. He will lead the opening plenary session on “World Wide Glass & Window Trends.” This session is scheduled to take place Thursday, September 22 at 9:45 a.m.
The conference program will also include a number of other informative sessions, not unlike those that are commonly seen on North American event programs. Topics include cyclones and windows; an Australian economic report and an Australian glass market report; as well as an event debate titled, “The Good, the Bad, and the Undecided … Is a Carbon Tax Right for Industry?”
In addition, the program includes a variety of social and networking opportunities, including an exhibitor showcase, receptions, dinners and more.
Additional information about the conference is available through the event website.
