Fortune Brands Windows & Doors Added 470 Jobs in 2013

Fortune Brands Windows & Doors, which includes Therma-Tru Corp., Simonton Windows and Fypon, added 470 new jobs in 2013. The company says the job increases come as a result of increased sales of door, window and trim products for both new construction and “repair and remodel” markets in 2013.

“Our door and window segment sales increased 12 percent for the full year of 2013,” says Mark Savan, president of the doors and windows business unit owned by Fortune Brands Home & Security Inc. “Door and window segment operating profit more than tripled to $15.8 million in 2013. Our growth allowed us to fill 470 positions to support the increase in business.”

Parent company, Fortune Brands Home & Security, says it sees ongoing signs of strength in the overall home products market in 2014 as noted in its year-end earnings reported on January 29. The demand for new construction is outstripping supply in many markets across the country and developers are preparing for significant growth in 2014 and beyond. More importantly, for repair and remodel, which is around 65 percent of the company’s overall mix, there is expected continuation of the strong growth seen in the fall 2013 season. Notably, the company says there is strength building in bigger ticket semi-custom and custom cabinets and replacement windows.
