Florida-Based Empire Window Files for Bankruptcy

Empire Window Inc., based in Sanford, Fla., filed a voluntary petition for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on March 2 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida. The company reports an estimate total liability of approximately $3.3 million.

The company’s top unsecured creditors are Suntrust bank, with a $1.8 million claim; industry supplier Florida Extruders International in Sanford, Fla., with a claim of $324,712.18; and American Express, with a debt of $221,784.45.

Empire’s only named secured creditor is Ford Motor Credit with a debt of $11,263.51 for a 2006 Ford F250.

Among the company’s other unsecured creditors are several industry suppliers, including:

  • Amweld Building Products in Charlotte, N.C., with a claim of $73,776.88;
  • Beck Built Inc. in Debary, Fla., with a claim of $5,745.78;
  • Boise Building Solutions in Atlanta with a claim of $15,631.56;

  • Custom Metal Fabricators in Orlando, Fla., with a claim of $12,828;
  • Dyke Industries Inc. in Orlando, Fla., with a claim of $6,319.64;
  • EFCO Corp. in Chicago with a claim of $5,084;
  • Fastenal Co. of Winona, Minn., with a claim of $7,485.79;
  • Flat Glass Distributors in Tucson, Ariz., with a claim of $24,707.32;
  • Full House Co. in Mebourne, Fla., with a claim of $7,814.38;
  • Huttig Building Products in Atlanta with a claim of $5,417.80;
