Caldwell Acquires Advantage Manufacturing AssetsApril 17th, 2012 by DWM Magazine
Caldwell Manufacturing Co. North America LLC today announced the acquisition of substantially all of the assets of Advantage Manufacturing of Victor, N.Y., including its Magnum-branded operable window hardware line.
According to Caldwell president and CEO Eric Mertz, the purchase adds depth to the company’s offerings and complements its existing line of sliding window hardware. The announcement notes that by combining these two product lines and distribution networks, the new entity is poised for geographic expansion and diversifies its product offerings at precisely the right time to leverage the economic rebound.
Advantage Manufacturing was founded in 1992 by Malcolm Muir in Victor, N.Y., and produces heavy-duty, four-bar hinges designed to provide the high load-bearing capacity needed for aluminum casement and projection windows. Muir will remain involved in the business under the terms of the purchase, and operations will continue at the Victor facility.
According to the announcement, customers, employees and venders should not expect any immediate changes and while there are areas of opportunity between the current offerings of both companies, as the integration progresses they will evaluate synergies in a way that assures a “first in service/best in class” result for customers and employees.
“With Caldwell parts installed in billions of windows worldwide,” says Mertz, “and nearly 125 years of innovation experience combined with our market leadership in window hardware, Caldwell is now perfectly poised to respond to the increased demands of today’s building market.”
