The Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) has announced the publication of ANSI/BHMA A156.17 – 2010 American National Standard for Self Closing Hinges and Pivots.
The A156.17 – 2010 revisions were established to further ensure the safety and stability of products in this category, according to the association. Criteria for cycle tests, operational tests, finish tests, as well as material and dimensional requirements are included in A156.17 – 2010. Design options, spring hinges and door thickness also are covered.
Used in conjunction with local building codes and manufacturers’ catalogs, A156.17 – 2010 offers guidance for consumers, the general public and manufacturers of products in this category, according to BHMA.
Additionally, the association has updated ANSI/BHMA A156.6 – 2010 American National Standard for Architectural Door Trim.
A156.6 – 2010 includes strength and finish tests, as well as dimensional and material criteria for architectural door hardware. Door protection plates, door edgings, push plates, door pulls, push bars and pull bars are included in the architectural door hardware category.
This revision clarifies that door edging mortise applications are limited to wood and laminate door materials, the door squareness tolerance, and updates the editions of each referenced standard and its formatting, according to the association.
