Allsco Windows & Doors Mourns Passing of FounderFebruary 19th, 2013 | Category: Industry News
Canadian manufacturer Allsco Windows & Doors Ltd., Moncton, NB, sadly announced that Donald Lahanky, its former president, CEO and founder died after a battle with cancer. Lahanky, 88, passed away at home on Thursday, February 14, 2013, with his family at his side.
When he started the family business in 1976, it was from a small building located at 194 Barker St. in Moncton. From this humble beginning, he was able to grow the business into a multi-million dollar business with more than 200,000 square feet of operations and as many as 200 employees. He evolved the business to focus almost exclusively on vinyl building products and become a leading manufacturer and wholesale distributor of windows, doors, shutters and siding across Atlantic Canada, according to Allsco.
Lahanky was committed to excellence in service to his dealer network and demanded the finest quality of building products. He designed and manufactured many of his own door and window systems to ensure his customers’ satisfaction.
His youngest son (of five children) and current president of Allsco stated, “My father was a great man respected by so many. He was my father and so much more: a hard working immigrant who did it all and earned his claim to success both in business and family. Don was a benevolent man of enviable integrity and in addition to creating hundreds of jobs he was a true community giver. It was in the act of his ample giving that he found the Lord’s way of receiving. As a pioneer in the aluminum and vinyl building products industry for more than 50 years, his vision made him a true industry leader and he will be sadly missed by all.”
Allsco is now owned by the Atis Group.
