IBS Show Starts Tomorrow in Orlando: Get a Glimpse of Products on DisplayJanuary 11th, 2011 by DWM Magazine
Door, window, moulding and millwork manufacturers will show off their latest wares at the upcoming International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla. The event will be held January 12-15 at the Orange County Convention Center.
A wide variety of fenestration products will be displayed.
Quanex Building Products Debuts Energy-Efficient Door and Window Systems
Quanex Building Products Corp. will showcase its energy-efficient door and window products at IBS. The Quanex family of brands, Homeshield, Mikron and Truseal, say the product they are displaying enable builders and remodelers to specify the best value in energy-efficient products and deliver tested-tough durability and attractive styling.

One of the products on display is the MikronWood™ brand sliding patio door (in-swing available) and double-hung window. MikronWood provides the beauty of wood with the weather-resistant, no-maintenance advantages of a composite, the company says.
The company also will demonstrate the Duralite™ brand insulating glass spacer technology integrated into a super-efficient EnergyCore™ window frame.
Additionally, Quanex’s door component technology company, Homeshield, is showing its ImperiClad™ moisture-impervious door frame system.
HOPPE North America Highlights Sidelite Hardware
HOPPE North America will feature its operable sidelite hardware for entry and patio door systems, along with its new Atlanta handle suite, tilt-and-turn window hardware from Roto, and a retractable screen system.
“We’re excited about our new sidelite hardware offering,” says Matt Taylor, HOPPE product manager. “We have carefully developed a product line that is cost-effective and matches our swing door hardware solutions in terms of style and finish.”
The company says one of the most innovative pieces in the line is its three-point locking hardware, which utilizes tongue-style bolts, allowing for concealed strikes and strong weather sealing.
Lincoln Introduces Two New Lines
Lincoln Windows has two new lines, its Revitalize and StormPoint Collections.
The StormPoint Collection was developed for areas prone to hurricanes and windstorms. It utilizes specifically designed reinforcements and Sea-Storm laminated glass with heavy-duty hardware.
The Revitalize Collection is geared toward the remodeling market and features a complete selection of products from full-frame replacements to double-hung replacement kits and pocket insert windows. The Revitalize Collection comes with custom sizing options and a complete array of options, according to the company.
Kolbe Offers Engineered Bamboo
Kolbe has expanded its selection of interior wood species to include a new, special option—Lamboo®, an engineered, laminated veneer bamboo (LVB) product.
“Bamboo is the most renewable material of its kind currently available for the building products industry,” says Kolbe’s product and market analyst, Lance Premeau, LEED® green associate. “Selected from more than 1600 species of bamboo, Lamboo LVB products are manufactured from four of the strongest, fast growing and sustainable species.”
The company says Lamboo is easy to clean and has no knots or voids, and it is designed to resist pests, mold and moisture, according to the company.
Gorell Introduces Three New Hurricane Windows
Three Gorell window models—the 5401 Armor Max Plus™ (AMP) picture window, 5402 AMP sliding window and 5405 AMP double-hung window—recently passed Dade County impact testing. These three windows will be featured during the Builders’ Show.
According to the company, its Armor Max Plus windows were evaluated for compliance with Dade County, Florida’s, air, water and structural requirements. The windows incorporate three lites of glass, and company officials say the glass is embedded deeply into the sash. The windows feature rigid tubular master frames—with 13 separate insulating chambers and heavy-duty double-cam sweep locks for high strength and durability.
Neuma Offers Fiberglass Doors, Composite Jambs and More
Neuma Doors will display its fiberglass door panels and composite jambs. Company officials say its products are designed to resist rotting, warping, denting or de-lamination. Several pre-finish options are available, and the products are made to look like wood. Neuma’s doors come with low-E glass and have full-panel glazing designs available, along with a blinds-between-glass option. Multipoint locks also are available for the doors, and are standard on Neuma’s 8-foot doors.
HomeRun Holdings Debuts WISP™ Door and Window Systems
HomeRun Holdings has introduced a new line of products—WISP™ door and window systems with integrated storm protection. The company says the systems make it possible to enact storm protection by simply pulling down an indoor shade.
The doors and windows are constructed with 6-inch aluminum frames, industrial-strength thermal breaks and insulating glass, according to the company. The high-impact storm shade is an integrated part of the system and is made of the same tough, flexible, tightly woven synthetic fiber used in radial car and truck tires and is finished with a specially formatted coating that makes it weather-resistant, water-repellent and pliable, according to HomeRun Holdings. When not in use, the shade rolls neatly into place inside its casing. The WISP systems can be used both for new construction and remodeling jobs.
Custom-built to specifications, WISP doors and windows are available in white or bronze aluminum finishes.
CGI Announces Release of New Sentinel Product Line
CGI Windows and Doors Inc. has a brand-new line of doors and windows, Sentinel by CGI. The product line was designed to further complement CGI’s other existing product lines and provide its dealers and customers with an even greater selection of custom manufactured products, according to the company.
The line includes impact-resistant single-hung windows, horizontal rolling windows, fixed windows, designer windows, swing doors, and two- and three-track sliding glass doors. Sentinel offers many features and benefits including energy-efficient options, design pressures up to +80/-90, clipless mullions, super view screens and product depths well suited for home remodeling projects, according to CGI officials.
Thermal Industries to Feature 900 Series Double-Hung
Thermal Industries Inc. , a division of Atrium Companies, will feature its 900 Series window system. The high-performance window system is available with Super Peak PerformanceTM Glass, a triple-pane insulating glass system constructed of two lites of low-e glass and one lite of clear glass. Both air spaces are enhanced with insulating Krypton gas, and the unit is sealed with Super Spacer® Warm-Edge Technology.
The 900 Series is available in white, earthtone, or safari brown, a co-extruded vinyl cap stock. An interior natural woodgrain laminate option also gives homeowners the ability to paint or stain the interior of the window to match existing wood finishes in the home.
EDTM Displays Window Energy Profiler and More
EDTM Inc. offers a full line of instruments and sales kits and will demonstrate its products throughout the show. Among these are the company’s window energy profiler sales kit (#SK1740), which tests windows in-frame. The instrument will simultaneously show the estimated SHGC value of a window, along with the UV, visible light and near infrared transmission values, according to the company. The SK1740 kit also includes a heat lamp and surface temperature guns to offer a sensory side to the presentation.
New Weatherstrip Products Available from Loxcreen
Loxcreen offers two foam weatherstrip products, the V9928 expanded reach foam weatherstrip and the standard V9650. The extended reach weatherstrip is designed primarily for fiberglass doors with frames that have a 2-1/8-inch rabbet depth and the company says the product also is ideal for units that have become warped.
The extended reach weatherstrip is designed to seal gaps and prevent air and water infiltration.
New Sliding Patio Door Available from Ply Gem
The Ply Gem Windows Premium Series 1000 sliding patio door joins an existing line of vinyl new construction and replacement products including double-hung, sliding, fixed and geometric shaped window styles, as well as hinged patio doors.
Series 1000 sliding patio door features the EuroGlide™ lift and slide operating system and comes standard with energy-efficient warm-edge insulating, high-performance tempered glass, combining low-E insulated glass with argon gas fill, which company officials say meets 2010 ENERGY STAR® standards in all zones.
The series is available in a white, beige, sandstone and earthtone exterior colors, and white, beige, natural oak and colonial cherry interior wood grain color options. The series is only available west of the Rockies.
WinDoor Inc. Displays Door Products
WinDoor Inc. will be exhibiting for the first time at the International Builders’ Show. The company will feature aluminum, thermally broken aluminum and our Eco-Impact vinyl products at the event.
WinDoor’s products also will be on display in the Builder Concept Home at the Builder’s Show, the Martha Stewart KB home Greenhouse,” and the NEXGEJN Home Experience, which will be build on-site.
PGT® Introduces Winguard Vinyl Sliding Glass Door
PGT Industries will unveil its WinGuard® Impact-Resistant SGD 570, Vinyl SGD 470, and PremierVue® SGD 2870. Company officials say its new line of vinyl sliding glass doors is unique because they can be ordered with up to four vinyl tracks and as tall as 10 feet high. Another feature exclusive to the new design will enable users to reconfigure the door in the field with interchangeable and reversible panel interlocks. Panels also can be installed or removed from the interior or exterior. The doors can be ordered with one panel or with up to eight panels as by-pass or pocket doors.
Additional features of the Series 470, 570 and 2870 sliding glass doors include dual-point mortise locking hardware; choice of raised handles or recessed pulls; roller assembly options: 2-1/8-inch wheels as either tandem steel wheels, tandem stainless wheels or tandem nylon wheels; and replaceable sill tracks.
Häfele Offers the Silent Aluflex
Häfele America Co. has added the Silent Aluflex 40 to its line of hardware systems. The new bottom rolling hardware system can be customized to meet individual needs, and company officials say the large made-to-order aluminum frame sliding doors can be installed to a ceiling height of up to 2.5 meters (8 feet, 2 inches).
The system also can be accessorized with different decorative glass designs or with different translucent materials. The Aluflex 40 also is equipped with a soft closing mechanism that prevents slamming and bouncing.
FrontLine Offers Low-Maintenance Transom
FrontLine Building Products Inc. will introduce a new, low-maintenance clad transom during the show. According to the company, the transom is created to reduce the possibility of a water leakage between the door unit and transom, utilizing FrontLine’s patented F+I+T Interlock technology.
In addition, the Green Bay, Wis.-company offers entry door cladding, transoms, historical and custom restoration windows.
Fypon Gets Rustic
Fypon will be displaying its rustic collection of textured urethane products in the Therma-Tru booth. The company says it has hundreds of new products in this collection, including door and window trim options (such as shutters, mouldings and pot shelves); decorative millwork (including beams, beam straps, corbels and rafter tails, decorative accents, knee braces and outlookers); louvers (both decorative and functional); and several decking products.
All rustic collection products feature a realistic woodgrain or stone texture on all visible (installed) surfaces and are regionally inspired to suit all home styles. In addition, company officials say stone enhancements provide clean details to accent stone homes or stone veneers, while woodgrain pieces provide an authentic early American feeling.
The products are designed to be easy and fast to install, and to resist rotting, weather, insects and humidity. The pieces are factory-primed and are ready to be stained or painted prior to installation.
Hy-Lite to Offer Variety of Window Options
Hy-Lite now offers an acrylic block operable awning window with E3SunBlock™ that company officials say meets ENERGY STAR® qualifications for most areas of the country.
The window is available in a variety of styles, including slider, awning, casement, hopper and single-hung. In addition, Hy-Lite will be featuring its operable decorative glass windows, available in both casement and awning styles.
Benefits of the products include ease and speed of installation, while pre-framed units come with low-maintenance vinyl frames, according to the company.
New “No-Leak” Skylight Available from VELUX
VELUX now offers what it calls the “No Leak Skylight” from VELUX, which is part of a redesigned product line with several upgrades, including advanced energy-efficient glass and resistance to water penetration. The company is providing a no leak product warranty—a 10-year installation warranty plus 20 years on glass, 10 years on product, and five years on blinds and controls. Features include three layers of water protection, advanced LoE3 glass, high visible light transmittance, daylighting, and solar heat gain performance. In addition, the skylights come with pre-finished white frames and sashes, pre-mounted brackets for quick installation of blinds or shades, a low roof profile with an updated curved architectural design, and a neutral gray color to blend with most roof materials and colors.
