New Federal Data Shows Sweeping Savings in Energy Usage by U.S. Building Sector

A new analysis of federal energy data shows that the U.S. building sector’s vigorous efforts toward efficiency standards and subsequent dwindling energy consumption have essentially eliminated the need for any additional power plants to service the building sector. Coalition Formed to “Save” Energy Star

The Coalition for Home Energy Efficiency, a group of citizens, manufacturers and retailers who want to “preserve and protect the Energy Star program and its promise of an easy choice for consumers,” launched a campaign on April 15 to “save” the Energy Star program. Offer Comments to Latest Energy Star Draft

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released Draft 2 of the Energy Star for Windows, Doors, and Skylights Version 6.0 specification and once again encourages industry feedback. Written comments should be submitted to EPA at windows@energystar.gov no later than Friday, February 8, 2013. Stakeholders Weigh in on Latest Energy Star Draft

When Arlene Stewart, AZS Consulting and Tracy Rogers, chair of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA), Green Certification Task Group, spoke to Fenestration Day attendees earlier this year, the two gave valuable information regarding energy-efficient issues. Window Companies Settle with FTC Over Deceptive Energy Efficiency and Cost Claims

Five companies that sell replacement windows in numerous states will have to stop making exaggerated and unsupported claims about the energy efficiency of their windows, and how much money consumers could save on their heating and cooling bills by having them installed, under settlements with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), according to an announcement released today.
