Door and Window Manufacturer (DWM) magazine featured its grand award winner in its third annual green awards in the November-December issue. The winner was chosen from the dealer category, but the magazine is also featuring nominees in some of the other groups as well. This week DWM features a nominee—VEKA Inc.—in the component supplier category for its Evolutions product.
The Evolutions product will accommodate up to 1 3/8-inch glass that is an optimum size for triple-glazing solutions to achieve a rating above R5, according to VEKA. This engineered product accepts heavy-duty hardware for maximum size capabilities, which allows the product to be used in both the residential and commercial markets.
The product is constructed of multi-chambered hollows, and large dead air spaces, and can be reinforced with multiple infill solutions to allow for maximum energy efficiency as well as structural performance as required, according to VEKA. Glass filled PVC, rigid foam PVC, multi-chambered PVC, steel, fiberglass, aluminum and urethane foam are all available options. Additionally, the product can be recycled due to the removable infill solutions.
