Weather Shield is Showcased in Southern Living's 2006 Idea House

Weather Shield® Windows and Doors of Medford, Wis., announced that its line of aluminum-clad wood windows and patio doors will be showcased in one of Southern Living magazine's 2006 Idea Houses.

Built in The Traditions Community in Bryan, Texas, the 2006 Southern Living House features Weather Shield telescoping patio doors, casement and double-hung windows throughout the home. The telescoping patio doors flank the gas fireplace located in the family room, and overlook Traditions Golf Course. Exclusive Windows and Doors of Austin partnered with Weather Shield on the project. The local dealer completed the installation of the patio doors and collaborated with the framing contractor on window installation to ensure optimal results.

The residence features multiple structures inspired by regional Texas architecture and linked by a series of glass-filled halls and paths tucked into the site. The four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath home includes outdoor dining and living areas overlooking the pool and spa area with a view of the golf course, a two-story family room with an oversized fireplace crafted from native stone and a private master wing.

"The Traditions home showcases Weather Shield's unique telescoping patio doors which are absolutely stunning, and one of my personal favorites," said Dave Koester, Weather Shield brand manager. "The 18-foot wide, 6-panel doors were designed for just this kind of setting--where homeowners want to open up their living spaces to the spectacular views outside. These patio doors, and the casement and double-hung windows, complement the home perfectly, and it excites me that we were able to contribute so much to the home's overall beauty."

The 2006 Southern Living Idea House will be open to the public through November 12. The Idea House at Traditions is featured in the August 2006 issue of Southern Living magazine.

Weather Shield also contributed to Midwest Living magazine's Idea House. The 2006 Door County Idea Home will be open for public viewing until September 3, 2006 and all proceeds from the open house will benefit local charities in Door County, Wis. The 2006 Midwest Living Idea Home will be featured in the September 2006 issue of the magazine.
