WDMA Updates Industry Specifications for Architectural Wood Flush Doors The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) has published updated and clarified veneer specification charts and design information in its revised I.S. 1A-2004 Industry Specifications for Architectural Wood Flush Doors. The I.S. 1A task force of WDMA has issued a special technical bulletin on the revisions of the standard veneer charts to increase awareness and adoption of the new standard. It has been rewritten to focus on the performance of architectural wood flush doors and how to specify the products for the environment. The latest edition includes updates and clarifications of several aspects of the veneer specification charts. The charts include the addition of wood species anegre, beech, makore and sapele. The section also clarifies the term "natural" and identifies the three basic types of face matches in the assembly of sliced face veneer. It also provides the technical data to help the specifier choose the best architectural wood flush door for an application. Copies of the I.S. 1A-2004, as well as four technical bulletins, are available at www.wdma.com. |
