WDMA Releases I.S. 1A

The Window and Door Manufacturers Association has announced that it has released the revised version of I.S. 1A-Industry Specification for Architectural Wood Flush Doors. Integral to the standard are new performance duty levels and values. Additionally, four new species were added to the veneer grading tables, positive pressure fire door wording was added, the finishing section was revised and expanded and a speciation checklist was added. A revamped layout of door construction along with corresponding aesthetic and performance standards has also been included.

"It's critical that WDMA continue to advance the window, door and skylight industry with new and revised standards that focus on the real world," said WDMA president Alan Campbell. "This benefits the manufacturer who has more uniform and flexible criteria in which to base door production, to the end-user who knows the opening can withstand years of operating performance based on guidelines adhered to in the specification."
