This Week Marks the Observation of National Window Safety
April 7, 2009

Observed annually during the first full week in April, Window Safety Week (taking place this week) is designed to heighten the awareness of what parents and caregivers should do to help keep their homes and families safer from the risk of accidental falls or injuries through windows.

"Window Safety is not only an important issue in our industry but in our daily lives, as proper precautions can help ensure the well-being of family," says Rich Walker, president and CEO of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association. "AAMA is proud to partner with the National Safety Council and other industry organizations to provide education that will keep homes and families safer and aid in the prevention of accidental falls and injuries through windows."

AAMA is a member of the Window Safety Task Force, which also includes members of the Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA), the Screen Manufacturers Association (SMA), the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and other organizations, as well as manufacturers of doors, windows and screens. The group was formed in 1997 to promote greater awareness of window safety and proudly observes National Window Safety Week in addition to promoting ongoing educational efforts.
