Intek Plastics Announces New President and CEO

Intek Plastics Inc. of Hastings, Minn., a manufacturer of custom plastic extrusions, fabricated subassemblies and value-added services, has promoted Rob Tracy to president and chief executive officer (CEO). John Penn, former CEO, remains chairman of the board.

Tracy was named president and chief operating officer 18 months ago, and was primarily responsible for leading the transformation of Intek's capabilities through the implementation of practices such as Lean, Six Sigma and ISO 9000. Tracy and Penn have worked together to create an organization and culture dedicated to continuous improvement and excellence.

"We are well along our journey to practice lean manufacturing," said Penn, "and Rob has been an outstanding leader in our efforts to operate more efficiently and deliver products and services of the highest quality. Intek's results in these areas have been superb, so I am honored to step down from the CEO position to have Rob take my place. The board and I have complete confidence that he will lead Intek to its next level of growth."

Prior to joining Intek as vice president of operations in 2003, Tracy was the vice president of supply for the Enclosures Group at Pentair. He also held several senior positions at Andersen Windows, including the leadership of their Lean Manufacturing group. He has a bachelor of science degree in industrial and operational engineering from the University of Michigan.
