IGMA Publishes Glazing Guidelines Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) has released its North American Glazing Guidelines for Sealed Insulating Glass Units for Commercial and Residential Use, which gives advisory guidelines to assist in achieving long-term performance of sealed insulating glass units. The guidelines were written as a result of open discussions and review by the IGMA Glazing Guidelines Task Group, and are intended for use by those who design, specify, manufacture and install insulating glass units, according to IGMA. They have been developed in accordance with IGMA quality control and are subject to periodic review and change. IGMA has provided them as a service to the industry to reflect the collective experiences of insulating glass manufacturers, glass and glazing material suppliers, design engineers, industry consultants and professionals experienced in successful glazing techniques, according to IGMA. The guidelines are not a specification and are not intended to exclude other possible glazing practices. Topics included in the publication include glass types, framing, glazing clearances, setting blocks, spacer shims, glazing systems, receiving, storage and handling and glass protection and cleaning. |
