IGMA and IGCC Working Toward Harmonized Certification

With acceptance of the Harmonized Insulating Glass Standard (HIGS) by the National Building Code of Canada expected in mid 2005, both the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) and the Insulating Glass Certification Council (IGCC) are working toward defining a more harmonized approach to certification. According to a joint press release issued by IGMA and IGCC, the approach will allow each certification program to remain independent and self-governed, while still taking advantage of common, functional similarities.

The boards of each organization plan to make a decision on the matter during their summer meetings. Discussion and input from program participants is welcome.

A complete proposal is not yet available, but full details will be provided during the meetings.

The IGCC's summer meeting will take place July 27-29 in Baltimore and IGMA's summer meeting will be August 5-8 in Victoria, British Columbia.
