Even if you didn’t make it to the International Builders’ Show, DWM editors were there to report on the latest products from Orlando. In addition to writing about the latest products in future issues (see the upcoming March issue for door and window trends seen at IBS), our editors also shot videos from the trade show floor.

The first is the new wireless technology for front doors from Amesbury Locca.

The new ACCESS and MULTI products give homeowners the ability to push a remote button, and push or pull the door open. One of the best features of the Access and Multi is that it works with most locking handle sets on the market today, according to the company. It simply utilizes an electronic strike in the doorframe that releases the locked latch on existing hardware.

An upgrade to these systems is the CONNECTA, a wireless intercom for the home. Rather than walking to a wall-mounted unit to talk to a visitor at the front door, homeowners can carry a handheld receiver. They can speak and unlock the door from wherever they are—up to 200 yards away.

“Response to these products has been phenomenal,” says Amber Grayson, North American sales manager for Amesbury Locca. She said many door manufacturers at IBS stopped by the booth to see the technology in action, first-hand.

The second product is the One-Cut System from HighMark Digital to be used for door replacement. With One-Cut, interior and exterior doors are measured, cut and fit within minutes, according to the company.

The tools and software deliver precision measuring, cutting and fitting of doors, accounting for any variances in the door jamb, hinges and hardware by capturing the structural components of the existing frame digitally. The patented system is designed specifically for manufacturers, distributors and retailers and includes a door imaging system, custom door machining center and software that ensures the final fit is accurate within 1/64 of an inch, according to Dave Winter, developer of the system.
