Gorell Partners with International Hurricane Protection Association
Gorell Windows and Doors of Indiana, Pa., has partnered with the International Hurricane Protection Association (IHPA), an organization that strives to be the industry leader on issues that affect the hurricane protection industry. As partners, Gorell and IHPA will work to provide quality hurricane protection products, information and education to ensure the public's welfare and safety. The organization also advises public officials and other government agencies in developing state statutes or local ordinances that are consistent with the overall goal of adequately protecting the public at an affordable price.
"We are extremely pleased to partner with the International Hurricane Protection Association," said Mike Rempel, Gorell president and chief operating officer. "We recognize the importance of impact-resistant windows in saving lives and protecting homes. We are proud of our work in developing windows that are effective in areas where weather conditions can turn severe at a moment's notice or where security is an issue-because we feel that it's our duty to build products that help protect and safeguard people and property, while at the same time providing energy efficiency, comfort and convenience."
The company's Armor Impact Plus (AIP) hurricane windows are engineered to provide homeowners with protection against airborne debris from strong winds, storms and other forms of violent weather. In addition to passing ASTM Large Missile Impact Level C tests, the AIP windows carry a DP-50 rating in accordance with the ANSI/AAMA/WDMA 101/IS2-97, the American Architectural Manufacturers Association's standard for air, water and structural window load testing.
Gorell designed the new window models to make homes more energy efficient as well as secure. The windows feature three lites of glass, two of which sandwich a PVB interlayer to keep the glass intact. Thick, multi-chambered frame construction, double locks add structural strength and durability. AIP windows incorporate a SolarControl Plus® low-E coating and argon gas fill for cost-saving energy efficiency year round-and to qualify them for the ENERGY STAR label.
