GED Acquires Sampson Automation

GED Integrated Solutions (GED) of Twinsburg, Ohio, announced the acquisition of Sampson Automation Co., provider of vinyl and aluminum fabrication systems for production of frames for windows and doors. Together, the companies will provide a programmed system that combines the assembly and construction of both insulated glass units and of vinyl sash and frames for windows and doors into one production line, according to the company.

Ron Auletta, president and CEO of GED says the merger was prompted by GED customers who wanted an integrated approach.

"Now they can look forward to manufacturing a window or door using one system that automatically aligns how the insulated glass and vinyl framing production processes work together," said Auletta.

Sampson will continue to operate its manufacturing facility in Hauppauge, N.Y. The company's president, Paul Barbaro, vice president Randy Moss and strategic advisor, Bob Quinn will remain in their key management roles.

"We're proud to have built Sampson to be a leader in its field during the last 30 years and we are excited about the future as a combined company," said Quinn.

According to Auletta, GED plans to acquire additional companies to add to its technology platform.
