FMA Educates Code Officials and Discusses Southeast Business at Recent Meeting
The Fenestration Manufacturers Association (FMA) met last week for its spring meeting in New Orleans and members were educated on a variety of items such as changes in the Florida building codes and the energy codes. “It was an action-packed meeting,” says FMA executive director Dick Wilhelm.
Attendees were treated to a variety of speakers including DWM columnist Mike Collins of Jordan, Knuaff and Co. Collins spoke on a variety of issues affecting Southeast states, including analysis of expansions and acquisitions in these states.
For the first time, the association also brought together approximately 50 building officials from Louisiana and educated them on various issues regarding doors and windows. This included everything from window terminology to explanations of industry standards and labeling, and door and window codes outlined in the International Residential Code and International Building Code. FMA members also demonstrated a window installation for the officials. Wilhelm says the FMA would continue these seminars for officials in future meetings as well.
The FMA’s next meeting will be held September 9-11 in Marco Island, Fla.
