Dow Corning Employees Honored for Contributions to Construction Industry
Two Dow Corning technical experts on silicone sealants for building construction, Kenneth Yarosh and Lawrence Carbary, were honored recently by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) for their contributions to their field.
Yarosh, European technical manager for global construction, was awarded the ASTM International Award of Merit and the accompanying title of "Fellow." This is the highest honor designated by ASTM International for individual contributions in the development of industry standards. Yarosh was recognized for his "outstanding technical contributions to the organization and building of consensus" within the organization.
Carbary, an associate industry scientist, was awarded the Sealants Hall of Fame Award for distinguished service by the ASTM International C24 Committee, a technical committee that develops industry standards for building seals and sealant technologies. This is the highest honor awarded by the committee.
"Ken and Larry's work with ASTM allows Dow Corning to share expertise across the field and improves Dow Corning's understanding of the needs and requirements of the global construction industry. This better enables us to assist our customers in meeting industry standards," said Ron Fillmore, global executive director for Dow Corning's Construction Industries. "By working to improve industry standards, we help to protect our customers' interests and contribute to their long-term success."
Each with more than 20 years of experience in the industry and numerous publications in technical and trade journals, Yarosh and Carbary are both longtime, active members in ASTM International, where Yarosh serves as vice-chairman elect for committee C24. Carbary chairs the ASTM C24 international standards and adhesion subcommittees. Carbary graduated from Michigan Technological University with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. Yarosh earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Ill.
