Barber & Ross Temporarily Closed

Barber & Ross Co., a manufacturer of windows, pre-hung interior and exterior doors, moldings and custom millwork products based in Winchester, Va., has closed "temporarily until further notice," according to voice mail messages posted on all of the company's phone numbers in its Winchester, Richmond, Va., and Mebane, N.C., locations. The company was established in 1876 as a comprehensive building materials and tools supplier, and in 1971, it was acquired by David Joffe, who changed the company's focus to supplying new homebuilders. According to the company's website, it most recently had four regional manufacturing facilities serving nine states and employed more than 1,200 people.
