CertianTeed Boosts Production in Plant

CertainTeed Corp.'s insulating group has completed a new production line called K22 to manufacture InsulSafe blowing wool insulation products at its plant in Kansas City, Kan. According to the company, the new line increases its capacity to make InsulSafe at this plant by 70 percent.

K22 employs some of the latest technology in fiber production. It uses new hydraulic-actuated packaging machinery for faster cycle times, coupled with improvements in bag shape and uniformity. The molten glass, which K22 receives, comes from the same furnace that has supplied the plant's K21 line since 1998.

"The K22 production line has become a reality after just a year in the planning process," said Glenn Abraham, Kansas City plant manager who adds that he credits the hard work of his employees for the success.
