Rohm and Haas Scientists Win Heroes of Chemistry Award Rohm and Haas Co. of Philadelphia has announced that a team of its scientists, who developed the Aquaset technology, were recently among the winners of the 2006 American Chemical Society's (ACS) Heroes of Chemistry Award. The Rohm and Haas scientists, one of six groups, were honored as 'chemical innovators whose work has led to the welfare and progress of humanity.' "Heroes save lives and change them for the better. This year's Heroes of Chemistry have improved our lives through their inventions," said E. Ann Nalley, ACS president, referring to this year's winners. The Rohm and Haas scientists have demonstrated life-changing potential with the introduction of the Aquaset product line, a pioneering technology made without formaldehyde or formaldehyde-generating materials. The technology provides environmentally-friendly, state-of-the-art binder options to producers of fiberglass insulation for building and construction, appliances and other products for consumers and industry. The Aquaset product line satisfies an increasing customer need around 'green' technology that can positively impact safety and health conditions for the industry, consumers and the environment. Past honorees of the Heroes of Chemistry Award have discovered world-changing inventions that include renewable energy technologies, replacements for ozone-depleting compounds and medications to combat high blood pressure. |
