Yellow Pages Association Discovers Push for Energy-Efficient
Windows
Although many window manufacturers are reporting decreased sales in this
down market, this may change slightly, at least in October, according
to the Yellow Pages Association (YPA), which released some interesting
research this week.
"Windows" rank 85th out of more than 4,000 headings and generates
26 million references annually, with the greatest frequency coming in
October as people prepare for winter," according to the press release.
"In October, homeowners are starting to think about winterizing their
homes and about what they can do to make their homes more energy efficient,"
says Rick Perry, director of industry standards for the Window and Door
Manufacturers Association. "Replacing existing windows with energy-efficient
windows offers one of the biggest values in energy reduction."
The "Windows" heading is most often referenced in the Midwest
and West regions, and Perry believes this is because of the extreme climates.
"In the West, especially the coastal areas, windows are replaced
to provide protection from high winds," Perry said. "Proper
windows also reduce the sun's UV rays, which heat homes and allow consumers'
air conditioning units to function more efficiently. In the Midwest, where
the winters are more severe, energy-efficient windows keep out the cold,
which reduces heating costs."
These statistics may come in handy to offer customers who contact you
this month when doing window replacement research.
